A healthy church (in the sense of a local assembly) is a place where believers mature in the faith.  The book of Titus is highly instructive as to how a local assembly should be “set in order.”  Substantively, Titus is packed with practical instruction for those who would be mature in the faith.  This sermon series covers the entire book, verse by verse, as well as certain other relevant verses and passages.

Amazing Love (The Substitution) (click)

“Amazing Love!  How can it be, that you my King would die for me?”  This sermon focuses on the amazing love of Jesus Christ as demonstrated in His voluntary substitution for us in dying for our sins that we might live.  The primary texts are Psalm 38, Psalm 22 and Luke 23:34-49.  We can be forgiven because He was forsaken, although we were the ones who deserved to be forsaken.

Limping Through Life (click here)

This is an amazing testimonial sermon by Pastor Jon Courson of Applegate Christian Fellowship in Jacksonville, Oregon.  This is one of those sermons that every Christian should hear.  The theme is leaning on God through struggles and adversity, knowing through it all that His grace is sufficient.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected ["and glorious"] end.”  Jeremiah 29:11.

He Is Risen! (click here)

A Resurrection Sunday message by Pastor Aaron Campbell of Antioch of Calvary Chapel in West Philly (Vic and Todd’s home church) in which the Lord uses Pastor Aaron beutifully to give a fresh perspective on the Passion of Jesus Christ, “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”  Revelation 13:8.

What’s In Your Hand? (click here)

This is another one of those sermons every Christian should hear.  When “Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice … the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? …”  Exodus 4:1-2.  Through this sermon the Lord uses Pastor Joe Focht (of Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia) to ask us the same question.  God takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary.  Take whatever you have and yield it to the Lord.  There is no limit to how He might use you, or how He might use whatever is “in your hand.”

tb’s initial sermon series: “The Walk”

// April 24th, 2009 // No Comments » // Sermons

Delivered at Antioch of Calvary Chapel’s mid-week studies in the Spring of 2009, tb’s initial sermon series consists of 5 progressive biblical studies exploring God’s heart to forgive, embracing what it means to be forgiven by virtue of Jesus Christ’s finished work on the cross,  how we should respond to that, growth in the faith as evidence of salvation,  responding to God’s call towards holiness, and then using what God has deposited in us as believers to bless and edify other believers as we are mutually comforted by each other’s gifts in the faith.  All 5 messages are listed below.  We invite you to grab a bible if you have one and follow along.
